Arcose Consulting - EHS

A Summary of What We Provide

Occupational Health and Safety

Occupational health and safety (OH&S) works to establish workplaces which are free from injury and disease. Our approach to occupational health and safety (OH&S) is guided by legislation, best practices, recognized quality management standards and risk management considerations. The benefits of having robust occupational health and safety systems extends beyond employers and employees and to the community at large.

Arcose can develop, implement, audit and refine your OH&S systems to ensure that they work for your organization.

Site Inspection

Confined Spaces

Confined spaces are potential workspaces which are not normally occupied and are enclosed, or partially enclosed. Because these spaces are enclosed, or partially enclosed, access is limited and hazardous atmospheres may develop. Confined spaces have resulted in numerous deaths and injuries and should be an area of special focus in any OH&S system.

Arcose specialties in confined space work include:

  • Program audits
  • Program development
  • Inventory development

Fungal Assessments (mould)

While fungal contamination can be a visible deterrent to potential visitors, clientele and employees  it also represents a significant health risk. For most people the effect of low level exposure to fungal contamination is limited to a manageable allergic reaction. In some less common instances, a person’s reaction may be more severe.

Arcose can help identify a fungal contamination problem, determine the extent of the problem and provide valuable advice on the best means to follow through on abatement procedures.

Occupational Hygiene

Occupational (industrial) hygiene is the art and science dedicated to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of environmental stressors in, or arising from, the work place. These stressors include, biological, chemical, physical, and ergonomic.

Arcose can help identify, evaluate, minimize and/or eliminate environmental stressors in the workplace.

Outdoor Observations

Indoor Environmental Quality

Indoor environmental quality (IEQ) encompasses all aspects of the indoor environment. Traditionally, indoor air quality (IAQ) has been the focus of indoor environmental assessments. IEQ includes all the concepts of IAQ such as temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. IEQ extends these concepts to include contaminants such as mold, lead, radon, allergens, chemical cleaners and VOC off-gassing. It also considers how you interact with your built environment.

Hazardous Materials

Hazardous Materials (HazMat) includes a number of materials that can be harmful to health and the environment, including: asbestos, lead, PCBs, mercury, biologically contaminated material, radioactive material and toxic wastes.

Arcose can help identify, assess and manage materials to minimize any present or potential risk.
